Community Relationships
In accordance with its corporate attitude, towards the social responsibility of the Company, GDK valorizes and contributes through social programs to improve the life conditions of communities, to support social inclusion actions as well as environment preservation .

It worthwhile mentioning the works developed on the education and nutrition area, which are considered priority by GDK . Aware of its social role, the company maintains, since 1997, a partnership with the São Miguel Fazenda Coutos III Community School - Salvador-Ba, which mission is the pedagogical fundament for 300 children, aiming at preparing them for inclusion into the fundamental teaching of the public school network. A similar partnership is performed together with the "Lar Estela Tarquínio de Souza" Children Day-care Center, located in Salvador-Ba.

Through the Milk Program, which reaches all employees having children up to 4 years old, the company has distributed over 100,000 cans of powder milk last year.
The company also participates in the Justice, School and Citizenship Project, promoted by the Court of Justice in the State of Bahia, by providing transportation and food to the students who integrate the project. The project is aimed at awakening citizenship fundamentals and at qualification in apprenticeship.
GDK also supports the educational projects promoted by “Trilha Projetos Educacionais” through musical theater– “Tente outra vez” -which approaches drugs prevention and environmental preservation aiming at mobilizing and touching youngsters between 14 and 20 years old in many cities in Bahia.

Through lectures on Environmental Education and Basic Safety Standards, administered in the vicinity of works and job-sites in the North, Northeast and Southeast regions and in Bolivia, the communities are made aware of care with children in the work fronts, in addition to the performance of concrete actions in the areas of nutrition, infrastructure and improvements construction, sports and leisure, aiming at improving the life quality of such communities.
GDK has been participating in projects that celebrate the World Day of the Environment, such as the one jointly performed with the Futura TV Channel of Roberto Marinho Foundation and Dow Chemical – Movie at the Plaza -, which includes the participation of children from Municipal Schools of the State of Bahia.
In accordance to its view and commitment to the Environment, the company has sponsored the third volume of the Book of the Environmental Protection Areas of the State of Bahia - APA/BA, prepared and edited by the CRA. These actions has contributed in a significant manner to make public and enhance environmental awareness, through the set of beautiful images and information about fauna and flora, of this area that extends from the Todos os Santos Bay to Mangue Seco (Dry Mangrove) in the Northern Coast of the State of Bahia.
